Puffins Restaurant
Puffins Restaurant is a full service waterfront restaurant located in Groton. This restaurant provides a unique opportunity for students and adults to develop the skills they will need to be employed in the community. Individuals gain confidence and experience in all facets of restaurant operations, enabling some of them to move on to their own restaurant job in the community. The program provides training in the area of food preparation, customer service, and restaurant maintenance.

Individuals, who may need additional support, are successfully employed at the bakery. Some skills that are taught include:

• Seating customers
• Taking customer orders
• Serving food and beverages
• Setting and bussing tables
• Presenting check and cashing out customers
• Stocking and restocking shelves
• Using a computer ordering system
• Loading, running, and unloading dishwasher
• Cleaning pots and pans
• Organizing and maintaining the work site
• Food preparation
• Following a recipe
• Gathering necessary equipment and ingredients
• Cleaning up
